Acireale's pleasures are architectural and festive rather than major-monument. The Baroque town centre is the attraction — Piazza Duomo and its surrounding churches, the Corso for evening passeggiata, and the thermal baths that have been in use since Roman times. For the coast and the lava formations, head down to the fishing villages below the cliff.
