Temple G

Temple G is the great unfinished temple on Selinunte's eastern hill, usually identified as a temple of Zeus. Measuring roughly 113 by 54 metres, it was one of the largest temples attempted in the Greek world, with a planned colonnade of 17 by 8 columns.

The scale is the reason to seek it out. Unlike the more visually complete Temple E, Temple G survives as a vast spread of fallen stone, but the size of the column drums and blocks makes the ambition of ancient Selinunte easy to grasp.
