Giardino Botanico Alpino di Passo Coe

The Giardino Botanico Alpino di Passo Coe is a municipal alpine botanical garden located about 5 km southeast of Folgaria at an elevation of 1,612 metres on Monte Maronia. It protects and displays hundreds of species of alpine flowers, grasses, and shrubs native to the Dolomite highlands, many of which bloom spectacularly during June and July.

The garden is an easy addition to any walk or drive out toward Passo Coe. In summer, the surrounding meadows are themselves worth visiting for wildflowers, and the views back toward the Adige Valley are excellent on clear days.

A story
The garden sits at 1,612 metres on Monte Maronia, making it one of the highest botanical collections in Trentino. It was established to preserve alpine species increasingly threatened by changing climate and land-use pressures on the plateaus of the southern Dolomites.
