The Museo Civico e Diocesano occupies the former Sant'Agostino complex and gives Montalcino more cultural weight than a wine-town label suggests. Its collection includes sacred art, wooden sculpture, and archaeological material from the surrounding area.
It is a good wet-weather stop and a useful counterpoint to Brunello. Check opening times, as small-town museums in Tuscany can keep shorter hours outside the main season.
