When to Go

Spring and autumn are the best seasons. Late September and October are particularly worthwhile: the chestnut woods turn colour, the village celebrates the Ottobre Palazzuolese on consecutive Sundays — local food, music, woodcraft stalls — and the air is bright and cool.

Summer is pleasant in the village but the surrounding country can be hot and dry; the trees give shade on most trails. July brings the medieval festival, with parades, archery and a banquet on the main square. Winter is quiet and sometimes snowy; the village has no ski lifts but cross-country routes are passable when conditions allow.
