Volterra's social life happens on the Piazza dei Priori and the small streets feeding into it — two or three good cafes for a morning espresso, a handful of enotecas for late-afternoon glasses of local Chianti or Vernaccia, and a couple of restaurants that double as wine bars after dinner. Things wind down early by Italian standards; midnight is late here.
