Orvieto Classico — the local dry white wine, made from Grechetto and Trebbiano grapes — appears on every restaurant table and is inexpensive. The town has a good range of restaurants serving Umbrian food: pici pasta (fat hand-rolled spaghetti) with wild boar ragù, truffles from the surrounding hills, roast pigeon, and lentils from Castelluccio. Avoid the tourist-trap places within sight of the Duomo; a few streets back you will find better food at half the price.
