The Museo Claudio Faina occupies the Palazzo Faina directly opposite the cathedral facade — a location that makes it easy to combine with a Duomo visit. The collection is one of the most important Etruscan museums in Italy, built around the private collection assembled by Count Mauro Faina in the 19th century. It includes ceramics, bronzes, jewellery, and carved stones from the Etruscan necropolises around Orvieto.
The star pieces are the Attic red-figure and black-figure vases, many from the 5th and 4th centuries BC, and a collection of Etruscan bucchero ware. The upper floors have views across to the cathedral facade. The collection gives essential context for understanding why Orvieto was such an important Etruscan centre.
