Piazza Giorgione is the main square just inside the eastern gate of the walled town. Long and rectangular, lined with arcaded buildings in faded ochre and brick, it is named — like everything in Castelfranco — for the local painter, whose monument stands at the centre. The piazza is the centre of evening passeggiata, especially in spring and autumn when the cafe tables fill the colonnades.
Several of the town's better cafes and gelaterias are on the piazza. The Saturday morning market spreads along the southern side and is a good place to pick up local cheeses and the long thin Treviso radicchio in winter. After dark the square is lit and quiet.
