Portogruaro sits on the main railway line from Venice to Trieste and is one of the easiest places in eastern Veneto to reach.
By train: The Portogruaro–Caorle station is a five-minute walk from the old town. Frequent regional trains from Venice Santa Lucia (about an hour) and Trieste (an hour fifteen). Faster Frecciabianca services stop here too.
By car: Portogruaro has its own exit on the A4 (Milan-Venice-Trieste) motorway. Parking is plentiful in lots around the perimeter of the old town. The old centre itself is mostly ZTL (limited traffic zone) and best entered on foot.
By bus: ATVO services connect Portogruaro to Bibione, Caorle, Latisana and other towns of the eastern Veneto coast — useful in summer when the beach resorts get busy.
