The town hall sits at the heart of the Corso Martiri, a Venetian Gothic palace of red brick begun in the late thirteenth century and finished in the late fifteenth. The facade has a double order of pointed arches, the upper ones forming a continuous loggia, and a strongly crenellated roofline of swallowtail merlons of the kind common to Ghibelline buildings of the period.
The interior includes the medieval council chamber, occasionally open for civic events. From the small piazza in front, two long arms of the arcaded street stretch in both directions. This is the photographic centre of Portogruaro and the obvious place to begin a walk.
