Le Beccherie claims — credibly — to be the birthplace of tiramisu. The owner Ado Campeol said his wife and her pastry chef invented the dish here in 1972, and the original recipe was deposited with a notary. The restaurant now serves a traditional Trevigian menu in dignified surroundings just off Piazza dei Signori.
Order the tiramisu, of course, but the broader menu (radicchio risotto, faraona, baccalà) is solid traditional Veneto cooking and the wine list features good local Prosecco and Raboso. Not cheap.
