St. Catherine's Church is one of Kuldiga's key historic buildings, with origins in the 13th century and later Baroque work inside. The altar's carved woodwork and the old votive ship give the interior more detail than the plain exterior suggests.
The church is tied to the town's ducal history: Duke Jacob was baptised here and later married Princess Louisa Charlotte of Brandenburg in the church. Visitors can usually look inside, and the tower gives a higher view over the old town.
