The Dzukija National Park is only a short drive east of Alytus, offering forest trails through the pine-and-sand landscape typical of this corner of Lithuania. Druskininkai, the spa resort town on the Nemunas, is around 40 kilometres to the west and makes a pleasant half-day excursion.
