Alytus is around 90 kilometres south of Vilnius by road. The drive takes just over an hour on the A4 motorway and regional roads. Regular bus services connect Alytus to Vilnius, Kaunas, and Druskininkai throughout the day; the bus station is centrally located.
The train station in Alytus is served by the Vilnius–Marcinkonys line, though services are infrequent compared to the buses. If you are travelling by train, check the timetable carefully as there may be only two or three departures per day in each direction.
