Dzūkija National Park has no direct rail access. The most convenient base is Druskininkai, which has bus connections from Vilnius (2 hours) and from Kaunas. From Druskininkai, local buses and taxis reach the park's main entry points at Marcinkonys and Merkinė. Varėna, to the north, also has rail connections from Vilnius and is the other practical gateway. A car is the most flexible option for reaching the smaller villages and trailheads within the park.
