Getting There

By air: Vilnius International Airport (VNO) is about 7 km south of the city centre. The airport is served by Ryanair, Wizz Air, and several other carriers with direct connections to many European cities. A taxi from the airport to the city centre costs around €10–15 and takes 15–20 minutes. Buses 1 and 2 connect the airport to the train station.

By train: Vilnius railway station is on the southern edge of the old town, within walking distance of most accommodation. Direct trains connect Vilnius to Kaunas (about 70 minutes), Šiauliai, and Klaipėda. International trains run to Warsaw (overnight, around 9 hours), Minsk, and Moscow. The train from Riga takes 4–5 hours.

By bus: The bus station is next to the railway station and has the most extensive connections. Lux Express and Ecolines run comfortable coaches to Tallinn (5–6 hours), Riga (4 hours), Warsaw (9 hours), and other regional cities. Buses to Kaunas run every 30–60 minutes throughout the day.

By car: Vilnius sits on the Via Baltica (E67), the main north–south road through the Baltics. Driving from Warsaw takes about 7 hours; from Riga, about 4 hours.
