Priminus Chapel

The small Romanesque chapel dedicated to Saint Priminus in Kaundorf is one of the village's oldest structures and a quiet point of interest for those spending a day or two in the area. It stands at the edge of the village and can be visited freely.

Kaundorf also has a handful of traditional farmhouses and outbuildings that give a sense of the Éislek's architectural character — solid stone construction, small windows, steep roofs designed for heavy snow loads. The village itself is tiny enough that a slow walk around takes less than twenty minutes.

A story
Saint Priminus was an 8th-century missionary bishop who evangelised much of the upper Rhine and Moselle region. Chapels dedicated to him are scattered across Luxembourg, Alsace, and the Rhineland — a reminder that this part of western Europe was Christianised remarkably late, with many areas still pagan well into the 700s.
