Our Valley Walking Trails

Several marked walking routes fan out from Munshausen into the surrounding valley landscape. The most rewarding circuit passes through the hamlets of Siebenaler and Drauffelt, dropping down into the Our valley and following the river before climbing back through forest to the village. The full loop covers around 10–12 kilometres and takes a comfortable half-day; shorter variants are possible by cutting through the valley floor.

The terrain is characteristic Ardennes Oesling: dense beech and oak forest broken by open meadows, with small streams running down to the Our. The valley floors can be boggy in spring and after rain, so proper walking boots matter. The trails are clearly waymarked and the gradients are gentle enough for most walkers, though the valley sides do involve some climbing.

A story
The Our river marks the border between Luxembourg and Germany along much of its length. The valley it has carved through the Oesling plateau is one of the deepest in the region — locals call it the Luxembourg Ardennes, though geographically it is the same plateau that continues into Belgium to the north.
