The Church of Saint Demetrius is Bitola's cathedral church and one of the city's best examples of 19th-century Macedonian revival architecture. Ottoman restrictions kept the exterior modest, but the interior is richly decorated.
Inside, the carved icon screen from 1845 is the highlight, along with galleries, chapels, and later details such as the bell tower added in 1936. The church stands just west of Magnolia Square, making it an easy stop while walking central Bitola.
