The Church of Saint George at Kurbinovo is a small 12th-century Byzantine church in the hills above Lake Prespa, southeast of Bitola. Its modest exterior gives little away, but the interior frescoes are among the more important medieval paintings in North Macedonia, with elongated figures and unusually expressive faces.
It is a better fit for travelers already exploring Bitola, Prespa, or Pelister than for anyone looking for a quick city sight. Access can be slow and opening arrangements may require patience, but the combination of rural setting and high-quality fresco work makes it more than another village church.
