Clock Tower (Saat Kula)

The Ottoman Clock Tower (Saat Kula) stands at the north end of Magnolia Square, just off Širok Sokak, and is one of the defining landmarks of Bitola's skyline. Built in the late 17th or early 18th century, it is a slender stone tower about 15 metres high, with a clock face added during later Ottoman renovation. The tower still keeps time and chimes on the hour.

Magnolia Square itself, which the tower anchors, is a pleasant open space with plane trees and benches, flanked by 19th-century buildings and the New Mosque. The juxtaposition of the mosque, the clock tower, and the 20th-century apartment blocks framing the square gives a good sense of Bitola's layered history in a single glance.
