Muzeul Memoriei Neamului

A small private museum dedicated to the victims of the Soviet deportations of Moldovans to Siberia and Kazakhstan in 1941, 1949, and 1951 — operations that uprooted around 80,000 people, mostly land-owning peasants and clergy. The collection is documentary: family photographs, deportation orders, letters from labour camps, and a reconstructed cattle wagon of the kind used for the transports.

The museum is housed near the Triumphal Arch in two ground-floor rooms — modest space, but the curation is unflinching. The accompanying booklets in English help, and a guide is usually present to talk visitors through the displays. Closed Mondays; donation-supported.
