Aalsmeer is about 20 km southwest of Amsterdam, immediately adjacent to Schiphol Airport. By public transport from Amsterdam, take the train to Schiphol and then bus 300 or 340 toward Aalsmeer — the journey from Amsterdam Centraal takes around 45 minutes in total. Direct buses also run from Amsterdam Centraal.
By car, the N201 connects Aalsmeer to the A4 motorway, and the drive from central Amsterdam takes 20–30 minutes. If you are arriving on an early morning flight at Schiphol to visit the flower auction, Aalsmeer is the most convenient thing to do immediately upon landing — the auction starts before dawn and the action winds down by mid-morning.
By bicycle, a well-marked cycling route follows the polder landscape from Amsterdam's southern suburbs to Aalsmeer — roughly 20–25 km depending on your starting point, through flat reclaimed farmland with little traffic.
