Getting There

Almere is on the main Amsterdam–Lelystad railway line, with four intercity stations (Almere-Poort, Almere-Muziekwijk, Almere-Centrum and Almere-Buiten) and two more local stops. Trains from Amsterdam Centraal run every ten minutes and take 20–25 minutes; the fast intercity from Amsterdam-Zuid via the Hanzelijn reaches Almere-Poort in 17 minutes. Direct trains continue to Utrecht, Lelystad, Zwolle and Groningen.

By car the city is on the A6 motorway between Amsterdam (30 minutes) and Lelystad (15 minutes), with the A27 branching off south towards Utrecht. Schiphol Airport is 40 minutes by train via Amsterdam-Zuid; Lelystad Airport (small regional flights only) is 20 minutes by car. There is no long-distance bus station — Flixbus stops at Amsterdam Sloterdijk instead.
