The Maasduinen landscape gives Arcen breathing room beyond the castle and brewery. North of the village, river dunes, heath, forest, and water shape one of Limburg's more distinctive lowland nature areas.
This is not wilderness, and it is better by bike than by car. Use it when you want Arcen to become a full day rather than a pair of ticketed stops.
