The Korenmarkt is a small square in the centre of Arnhem that functions as the hub of the city's nightlife. Surrounded by bars, cafes, and clubs in a compact area, it is where most evenings in Arnhem start and often end. The atmosphere is student-heavy and unpretentious — this is not the Amsterdam canal-house experience but a working Dutch city doing its own thing.
The surrounding streets — Pauwstraat, Bakkerstraat, Jansstraat — have additional bars and restaurants spreading out from the square. Weekend nights are lively; midweek is much quieter. The area also has several good spots for a daytime coffee or lunch.
