A large, casual café-restaurant directly on the Markt, De Markt does good Dutch lunch standards — broodjes (sandwiches), uitsmijter (fried eggs on bread), and erwtensoep (pea soup) in winter — as well as afternoon drinks and a simple dinner menu. The terrace tables facing the town hall are among the best seats in the city on a warm afternoon.
Service can be slow at busy times, but the location is hard to beat. A good option for a relaxed lunch before or after visiting the town hall and nearby museums.
