Zeeland Archives

The Zeeuws Archief holds one of the most remarkable collections of historical records in the Netherlands, including the archives of the Zeeland chamber of the Dutch East India Company (VOC), logbooks of the maritime governors of Zeeland, and original charts of the Dutch colonial possessions. The reading room is open to researchers, but there are also regular public exhibitions drawn from the collection.

Even without a specific research interest, the building itself — a restored historic warehouse near the old inner harbour — is worth a look. The reading room and exhibition space are free to enter.
