Epemastate is a manor house built in 1651, set in the small village of Ysbrechtum a few kilometres south of Sneek. One of the better-preserved historic estates in Friesland, it sits in formal gardens and is occasionally open for events and guided visits. The building is a good example of the prosperous merchant architecture that once dotted the Frisian countryside — solid, understated, and built to last.
