Sneek is easy to reach by train: regular services run from Leeuwarden (about 25 minutes) and from Stavoren on the Zuiderzee, with a change typically required from Amsterdam or Utrecht in Leeuwarden. The journey from Amsterdam takes around two and a half hours.
By car, Sneek is on the A7 between the Afsluitdijk and Heerenveen. Most arrive in summer by boat — the canals connect directly to the Frisian lakes and onward to the IJsselmeer, and there are several marinas in and around the town.
