Sneek's town hall is one of the most decorative civic buildings in Friesland: an 18th-century Rococo facade in pale stone, with elaborate carvings and a gilded coat of arms above the door. The interior is open to visitors during office hours and contains a small collection of historic chambers and council rooms.
It sits on the Marktstraat, a few steps from the Martinikerk, and the two together — church and town hall — are the heart of the old centre. Pause for a coffee on one of the surrounding terraces and you have a good view of both.
