The cafes along Oudeschild's harbour front are the social heart of the village. They serve Texels Skuumkoppe on tap — the local amber ale brewed at the Texelse Bierbrouwerij in Den Burg — alongside the standard Dutch cafe repertoire of koffie, apple cake, and bitterballen. On summer afternoons, terrace seats fill with cyclists who have ridden around the island.
The atmosphere is genuine working-village rather than tourist-polished: regulars prop up the bar, the football is on, and strangers are welcome. A good place to sit for an hour with a beer and watch the harbour traffic.
