Maki

Maki is one of Ålesund's most-recommended restaurants, occupying an old warehouse building on the Brosundet waterfront with views over the channel. The menu centres on local seafood: prawns, crab, Atlantic fish, and shellfish sourced from nearby waters. The cooking is straightforward — the quality of the ingredients is allowed to speak for itself.

The setting matches the food: the room has exposed timber beams and large windows looking onto the water. Booking ahead is advisable, especially in summer when the outdoor terrace fills quickly. Prices are in line with Norway generally — high by most European standards, but reasonable for what you get.
