Ålesund is rewarding on foot. The Art Nouveau centre, the fish market pier, and the steps up Mt. Aksla are all within easy walking distance. The Atlantic Sea-Park and Sunnmøre Museum require transport but are worth the trip. In summer, day trips to Geirangerfjord by ferry are a popular and justified excursion.
