Walking and Day Trips

Coastal and ridge hikes from city to Keiservarden plateau with Lofoten views

The hills and coastline around Bodo are ideal for walking, with routes ranging from easy waterfront strolls to half-day ridge hikes. The most popular destination is Keiservarden, a 366-metre plateau on Ronvikfjellet about 3.5 km from the city centre — the sherpa-built trail is accessible year-round and the views on a clear day take in the full Lofoten Wall. Lopsmarka, just south, offers a quieter alternative with similar panoramas.

For marked trails across Nordland, the local hiking association BOT (Bodo og omegn Turistforening) maintains a network of routes signed with the red "T" of the Norwegian Mountain Touring Association. Nordland Turselskap organises guided hikes and glacier walks at Svartisen for those who want company or instruction.
