Bragernes Torg

Bragernes Torg is the main square on the north bank of the river, dominated by the yellow-brick tower of Bragernes Church. It is the heart of commercial life in central Drammen — the main pedestrian shopping streets radiate from here, and a weekly market fills the square on Saturdays with local produce, flowers, and household goods.

The square is entirely unremarkable by the standards of, say, a Norwegian tourist trail, but it functions well as an urban space. The outdoor cafes are busy whenever the temperature is above about twelve degrees, which in Norway counts as optimistic weather. If you are waiting for a bus or meeting someone in Drammen, this is where you do it. The Christmas market in December is genuine and not especially touristy.
