Kjelfossen

High waterfall near Gudvangen and Flam, best seen after rain or snowmelt.

Kjelfossen is one of the dramatic waterfalls in the fjord country around Flåm and Gudvangen. It drops from the mountains in long white ribbons, at its best when rain or snowmelt gives the falls enough volume to stand out against the dark rock.

This is mainly a roadside-and-viewpoint sight, not a destination that needs hours. It fits naturally into a Nærøyfjord or Gudvangen excursion, where waterfalls, cliffs, ferries, and tunnel roads all blur into one very Norwegian day.
