Ægir is a craft brewery and pub at the Flåm quayside, housed in a striking Viking longhouse-inspired building that is among the more dramatic pub designs in Norway. The brewery produces a range of ales and stouts; the India Pale Ale and the dark Nøgne Ø-influenced beers are usually the best. The food menu is solid, leaning on Norwegian classics with modern execution.
The location is ideal — right at the water, with views over the fjord. On summer evenings, after the cruise ship crowds have departed, it becomes a genuinely pleasant place for a drink. The brewery is also available for tastings and brewery tours. Given the limited options in Flåm for food and drink, Ægir is by far the best in town.
