Harstad-Narvik Airport (Evenes) is the main airport, located about 60 km from the city centre. Widerøe and SAS operate flights from Oslo (around 2 hours) and other Norwegian cities. There is a bus connection from the airport to Harstad.
The Hurtigruten coastal ferry calls at Harstad on its daily northbound and southbound runs, making it possible to arrive or depart by sea — the route between Harstad and Tromsø to the north, or the Lofoten Islands to the south, is one of the more scenic stretches of the coast. By car or bus, Harstad is connected to the national road network via the bridge and tunnel crossings of the islands — the E10 and Rv83 are the main routes.
