Getting There

Mosjøen sits on the E6, the trunk road that runs the length of Norway, roughly midway between Trondheim (410 km south) and Bodø (410 km north). Driving up the E6 from the south is the classic Helgeland approach — fjord views, sudden tunnels, and the long valley of the Vefsna river opening out as you near town.

The Nordland Railway stops at Mosjøen Station twice a day in each direction, with an overnight service from Trondheim that delivers you in the morning. It is one of the more atmospheric ways to arrive in northern Norway.

Mosjøen Airport (Kjærstad, IATA: MJF) lies about 7 km south of town, with daily Widerøe flights to Bodø, Trondheim, and other regional hubs. It is small but reliable, and a useful link if you are short on time.

Long-distance buses (Nor-way Bussekspress and local operators) connect Mosjøen with Brønnøysund, Sandnessjøen, and other Helgeland coastal towns, including ferry connections out to the islands.
