Kazimierz Landscape Park

The Kazimierz Landscape Park (Kazimierski Park Krajobrazowy) covers about 150 square kilometres of loess hills, beech forests and dramatic gorges around the town. The loess — a fine yellow sediment laid down at the end of the last ice age — has been carved by streams into deep, narrow ravines (wąwozy) with vertical walls and tree-arched bottoms.

The most famous is Wąwóz Korzeniowy Dół, a wooded gully where the path winds between roots and bare loess walls — a short, dramatic walk from the centre. Several other marked trails of varying length head out from town. Pack water and wear shoes with grip — loess is slippery after rain.
