Łeba Harbour

Łeba's small harbour sits where the Łeba river meets the sea, sheltered behind a breakwater on the eastern side of the beach. Fishing boats go out and come back here most mornings, bringing in Baltic cod, herring, and flounder. It is a genuinely working harbour, not a tourist marina, and on a weekday morning the activity around the boats and fish stalls gives the town its best flavour.

The restaurants and fish stalls along the harbour front serve fresh catch simply cooked — smoked fish, fish soup, and fried herring are the staples. Sitting with a plate of smoked mackerel watching the boats is exactly the right thing to do in Łeba. The harbour area is also the embarkation point for boat trips on the river toward the lake in summer.
