The Church of St. John the Baptist is Malbork’s main old-town church and a useful stop once you have seen the castle. Its brick Gothic fabric belongs to the same medieval world as the Teutonic fortress, though on a more intimate parish scale.
Most visitors hurry straight from the station to the castle gates, which is understandable. Still, a short detour to the church helps restore Malbork as a town rather than only a castle complex. Look for the heavy brickwork, the vertical lines, and the quieter local life around it.
