The Wysoka Brama, or High Gate, is the only one of three medieval city gates still standing. The fourteenth-century brick arch is decorated on its outer face with a large painted image of the Virgin Mary of the Gate of Dawn, copied in 1898 from the famous Vilnius shrine, and is one of the most photographed corners of Olsztyn.
It marks the historic entrance to the old town. Walk through it from the north and you are immediately on the cobblestones of the central square.
