Citadel Park is Poznan's biggest green space and one of the easiest places in the city to feel its layered history. The park covers the site of Fort Winiary, a Prussian fortress that became a battlefield in 1945 and was later reshaped into lawns, paths, cemeteries, and memorials.
Come for a long walk rather than a single monument. The military museums, cemetery rows, sculpture installations, and open slopes make it a useful break from the Old Town while still keeping you close to Poznan's harder twentieth-century story.
