Monte Gordo keeps it simple. The beach is the main event — nine kilometres of pale sand with some of the warmest water in the Algarve, reaching 25°C or more in August. Beyond the beach, the Reserva Natural de Castro Marim is within easy reach for birdwatching, and the towns of Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António are close enough to visit on a half-day trip without a car.
