Monte Clérigo is about 6 km northwest of Aljezur town, smaller and more sheltered than Arrifana — the cliffs here are lower and curve around to break the wind, making it the best option when the swell at Arrifana is too rough for swimming. The beach is popular with families and has a seasonal café near the car park.
The Fishermen's Trail of the Rota Vicentina passes above the beach on its route south from Odeceixe, and you can join the clifftop path here for a good hour's walk north or south along the coast. The turquoise water on a calm day looks more Mediterranean than Atlantic, which catches visitors by surprise.
