The Garden of Santa Bárbara is a small, formal garden set against the medieval wall of the Archbishop's Palace — one of the most photographed spots in Braga, and deservedly so. Box hedges cut into precise geometric shapes, fountains, and rose beds fill the space between the old stone wall and the road, with a statue of the humanist scholar Diogo de Sousa at the centre.
It is a good place to pause after the Sé. The medieval battlements above make an atmospheric backdrop, and the garden is calm even in the middle of the day. Entry is free.
