Sé Velha de Bragança

Sé Velha de Bragança is the old cathedral church of Bragança, built for a convent on land once tied to the Benedictine monastery of Castro de Avelãs. Its single nave, vaulted roof, gilded altar, and carved details make it one of the more atmospheric historic interiors in town.

It is a good stop while walking Bragança's old centre. The church is not large, but it gives a clear sense of the city's religious and frontier history without needing much time.
